turning dreams to reality.

Step 1 - The Business Plan
Have you ever tried to write a business plan? Ugh... there are a million and one things to think about.

I mean I get the point. I understand why it is so lengthy and intense. In fact, I am thankful for it. But that doesn't make it any easier to stomach.

Last night, I worked 5 hours on my plans and I only had 2 pages worth of stuff. I worked on 1 section and reworked it, and deleted it only to retype it almost exactly the same, then delete it a second time and start from scratch.

I am starting to sort through my pipe dream and really understand what it is that I really want to do. So like I said, I am thankful for its length and intensity because I am already thinking about this from a different perspective trying to figure out how to make this dream a reality.

Painting MY Dream!

I have always been artistic. Since before I can remember, I could draw anything I could see.

I can remember drawing a horse just like the one I was looking at in a book and my teacher, having watched me draw it, still couldn't believe I had.

I remember in 5th grade when we got "married" and had to deal with real life situations, we were to pick what we wanted to be. I wrote down artist.

I have always loved to create. No matter what it is from scrapbook to ceramics to still life oil paintings. But what I never knew before was how much I loved teaching.

I traveled to Denver, Colorado in the Summer of 2006 on a summer long mission trip. Within the mission program I worked for (DOOR) I was placed at a preschool and after-school program called The Bridge Project. This was the first time I was ever fully exposed to teaching and I fell in love. I realized with 1 year left in my advertising degree, that I wanted to be a teacher.

I am not sure exactly when my dream to teach and my dream to be an artist merged. But one day I decided that opening an art studio for kids was what I really wanted to do.

For awhile it was just a pipe dream, something to daydream about when I was mad at my boss or bored with my workload.

But now, I am making this dream a reality. Now that I have my sweet baby Cooper, now that I have made a million and one connections, now that I am passionate and excited and overflowing with determination.

I am hoping by documenting my journey, it will maintain my motivation and excitement so that I stick with it.

I would like to invite you to join me as I paint MY dream at The Messy Palette!
